Tata Motors India has launched a larger 45kWh battery for the entry-level Nexon EV. This new battery pack, similar to the one found in the Curvv EV, features prismatic cells that enhance charging times, driving range, and high-voltage safety.
With the upgraded 45kWh battery, the Nexon EV boasts an ARAI-claimed range of 489 km. Tata’s C75 range, which reflects estimated real-world usage, is rated at 350-370 km.
The new battery pack offers 15% more energy density while occupying the same space as the previous 40kWh unit. Notably, charging from 10% to 80% has improved, now taking just 48 minutes compared to the earlier 56 minutes.
In addition to the larger battery, higher variants of the Nexon EV come equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof and a front trunk (frunk) for extra storage. These variants also include ventilated front seats, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-load charging capabilities, and a 7.2kW AC fast charger, among other enhancements.
A standout feature of the Nexon EV is the new panoramic sunroof, along with the frunk. Additional highlights include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, and a 10.25-inch digital driver display. Safety features include six airbags (standard), a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, and front and rear parking sensors.
